Prva izvješća iz Ukrajine navode kako se ruska vojska u svom napadu na opkoljeni Mariupolj protiv civila poslužila "otrovnom supstancom nepoznatog porijekla".
Kako piše Guardian, žrtve su redom imale vestibulo-ataktički sindrom te probleme sa srednjim uhom - vrtoglavicu, povraćanje, poremećaje vida i gubitak ravnoteže. Odmah su se pojavile optužbe kako se radi o napadu kemijskim oružjem.
Britanska inoministrica Liz Truss rekla je kako je Velika Britanija odmah pokrenula istragu dok je glasnogovornik američkog Pentagona izjavio kako su izvješća "duboko zabrinjavajuća ako su istinita".
No, neki su skeptični oko cijele priče. Video navodnog kemijskog napada objavljen je u utorak na Telegramu od strane Azova, nacionalističke ukrajinske vojne skupine. Navodne žrtve koje su snimljene u toj objavi ne čine se kao da su značajnije ozlijeđene. Pritom iznose svjedočanstva kako su vidjeli "bijeli dim", najvjerojatnije iz tvornice na istoku grada, a jedan muškarac opisao je kako je dim bio slatkastog okusa. Tvrdi kako mu je odmah pozlilo te je počeo patiti od ubrzanog rada srca nakon čega se onesvijestio. Njegova majka je navodno izgubila svijest te je tri puta reanimirana, prenosi Jutarnji.
Jedna žena starije dobi snimljena je kako, neposredno nakon napada, ne može hodati.
Treća žrtva, kojoj je otrov najviše napao oči, izjavila je kako se nakon eksplozije činilo kao da je riječ o magli, a ne o dimu.
- Bilo je jako teško disati - rekao je on dodajući kako je osjećao vrtoglavicu te da su mu "noge kao od pamuka".
Vojne vlasti priopćile su kako su vjerojatno korištene "toksične ili potencijalno toksične supstance", no do pravih se podataka ne može doći s obzirom na to da nije provedena analiza, radi se o području pod opsadom. Stoga, pita se Guardian, je li se uistinu radilo o napadu kemijskim oružjem?
Stručnjak za kemijsko oružje Dan Kaszeta rekao je da je uporabu ovakvog oružja uvijek teško dokazati te da mu je neobično što se u prvoj dijagnozi koristio termin "vestibulo-ataktički sindrom". Stoga je, smatra on, nejasno jesu li u napadu korištene kemikalije. Dodao je da bi čak i uobičajeno naoružanje moglo izazvati slične kemijske reakcije uslijed eksplozije ili vatre.
Osnivač novinarske istraživačke agencije Bellingcat Eliot Higgins rekao je da su opisani simptomi drugačiji od bilo kakvih nervnih otrova s kojima je upoznat.
Unatoč tomu, ukrajinske snage pokušale su prikupiti ostatke oružja koje je najvjerojatnije izbačeno iz bespilotnih letjelica, što čini vjerojatnijom tvrdnju da se radi o kemijskom oružju.
Britansko ministarstvo obrane nastavlja istragu, rekao je ministar James Jeappey, rekavši kako su sve opcije na stolu kada se govori o mogućem odgovoru NATO-a na potencijalnu uporabu kemijskog oružja. Nadovezuje se to na izjave američkog predsjednika Joea Bidena koji je rekao da će Zapad reagirati na eventualnu rusku uporabu kemijskog oružja u Ukrajini u skladu s naravi korištenja tog oružja.
No, zaključuje Guardian, teško je očekivati da bi tri žrtve napada mogle biti "okidač" za ozbiljniji odgovor. Mariupolj je pritom okružen ruskim snagama pa je nemoguće provesti neovisnu istragu. Stoga, pitanje je kada ćemo i ako ikada saznati je li doista došlo do kemijskog napada.

Prva izvješća iz Ukrajine navode kako se ruska vojska u svom napadu na opkoljeni Mariupolj protiv civila poslužila "otrovnom supstancom nepoznatog porijekla".
Kako piše Guardian, žrtve su redom imale vestibulo-ataktički sindrom te probleme sa srednjim uhom - vrtoglavicu, povraćanje, poremećaje vida i gubitak ravnoteže. Odmah su se pojavile optužbe kako se radi o napadu kemijskim oružjem.
Britanska inoministrica Liz Truss rekla je kako je Velika Britanija odmah pokrenula istragu dok je glasnogovornik američkog Pentagona izjavio kako su izvješća "duboko zabrinjavajuća ako su istinita".
No, neki su skeptični oko cijele priče. Video navodnog kemijskog napada objavljen je u utorak na Telegramu od strane Azova, nacionalističke ukrajinske vojne skupine. Navodne žrtve koje su snimljene u toj objavi ne čine se kao da su značajnije ozlijeđene. Pritom iznose svjedočanstva kako su vidjeli "bijeli dim", najvjerojatnije iz tvornice na istoku grada, a jedan muškarac opisao je kako je dim bio slatkastog okusa. Tvrdi kako mu je odmah pozlilo te je počeo patiti od ubrzanog rada srca nakon čega se onesvijestio. Njegova majka je navodno izgubila svijest te je tri puta reanimirana, prenosi Jutarnji.
Jedna žena starije dobi snimljena je kako, neposredno nakon napada, ne može hodati.
Treća žrtva, kojoj je otrov najviše napao oči, izjavila je kako se nakon eksplozije činilo kao da je riječ o magli, a ne o dimu.
- Bilo je jako teško disati - rekao je on dodajući kako je osjećao vrtoglavicu te da su mu "noge kao od pamuka".
Vojne vlasti priopćile su kako su vjerojatno korištene "toksične ili potencijalno toksične supstance", no do pravih se podataka ne može doći s obzirom na to da nije provedena analiza, radi se o području pod opsadom. Stoga, pita se Guardian, je li se uistinu radilo o napadu kemijskim oružjem?
Stručnjak za kemijsko oružje Dan Kaszeta rekao je da je uporabu ovakvog oružja uvijek teško dokazati te da mu je neobično što se u prvoj dijagnozi koristio termin "vestibulo-ataktički sindrom". Stoga je, smatra on, nejasno jesu li u napadu korištene kemikalije. Dodao je da bi čak i uobičajeno naoružanje moglo izazvati slične kemijske reakcije uslijed eksplozije ili vatre.
Osnivač novinarske istraživačke agencije Bellingcat Eliot Higgins rekao je da su opisani simptomi drugačiji od bilo kakvih nervnih otrova s kojima je upoznat.
Unatoč tomu, ukrajinske snage pokušale su prikupiti ostatke oružja koje je najvjerojatnije izbačeno iz bespilotnih letjelica, što čini vjerojatnijom tvrdnju da se radi o kemijskom oružju.
Britansko ministarstvo obrane nastavlja istragu, rekao je ministar James Jeappey, rekavši kako su sve opcije na stolu kada se govori o mogućem odgovoru NATO-a na potencijalnu uporabu kemijskog oružja. Nadovezuje se to na izjave američkog predsjednika Joea Bidena koji je rekao da će Zapad reagirati na eventualnu rusku uporabu kemijskog oružja u Ukrajini u skladu s naravi korištenja tog oružja.
No, zaključuje Guardian, teško je očekivati da bi tri žrtve napada mogle biti "okidač" za ozbiljniji odgovor. Mariupolj je pritom okružen ruskim snagama pa je nemoguće provesti neovisnu istragu. Stoga, pitanje je kada ćemo i ako ikada saznati je li doista došlo do kemijskog napada.
