Najmanje 288 ljudi poginulo je u sudaru vlakova u indijskoj saveznoj državi Odishi, a još 850 ih je ozlijeđeno, kazao je dužnosnik Odishe AFP-u u subotu, pri čemu Reuters napominje kako je riječ o najsmrtonosnijoj željezničkoj nesreći u Indiji u više od dva desetljeća.
Sudhanshu Sarangi, šef vatrogasnog odjela Odishe, rekao je da izvlačenje žrtava još uvijek traje i da ima "puno težih ozljeda", navodi AFP, prenosi Reuters.
Glavni tajnik Odishe Pradeep Jena objavio je na Twitteru da je više od 200 vozila hitne pomoći pozvano na mjesto nesreće u petak u okrugu Balasore u Odishi te da je mobilizirano dodatnih 100 liječnika, povrh 80 koji su već tamo.
"Spavao sam", rekao je neidentificirani preživjeli muškarac za NDTV vijesti.
"Probudila me buka vlaka koji je iskočio iz tračnica. Odjednom sam vidio 10-15 mrtvih. Uspio sam izaći iz vagona, a onda sam vidio puno raskomadanih tijela", dodao je.
Videosnimka od petka prikazuje spasioce kako se penju uz jedan od oštećenih vlakova kako bi pronašli preživjele, dok su putnici dozivali pomoć i jecali.

Vlasti su dale proturječne tvrdnje o tome koji je vlak prvi iskočio iz tračnica. Ministarstvo željeznica priopćilo je da je pokrenulo istragu o incidentu.
Iako je Jena kazao da je u sudar bio uključen i teretni vlak, što su pisali i pojedini mediji, Indijske željeznice još ne spominju tu mogućnost.
Prema Indijskim željeznicama, njihova mreža omogućava prijevoz više od 13 milijuna ljudi svakoga dana, a Reuters ističe kako je infrastruktura zastarjela.
Indija je subotu proglasila danom žalosti zbog nesreće.
Najsmrtonosnija željeznička nesreća u Indiji dogodila se 1981. kada je vlak sletio s mosta u rijeku u državi Bihar, pri čemu je poginulo oko 800 ljudi.

Najmanje 288 ljudi poginulo je u sudaru vlakova u indijskoj saveznoj državi Odishi, a još 850 ih je ozlijeđeno, kazao je dužnosnik Odishe AFP-u u subotu, pri čemu Reuters napominje kako je riječ o najsmrtonosnijoj željezničkoj nesreći u Indiji u više od dva desetljeća.
Sudhanshu Sarangi, šef vatrogasnog odjela Odishe, rekao je da izvlačenje žrtava još uvijek traje i da ima "puno težih ozljeda", navodi AFP, prenosi Reuters.
Glavni tajnik Odishe Pradeep Jena objavio je na Twitteru da je više od 200 vozila hitne pomoći pozvano na mjesto nesreće u petak u okrugu Balasore u Odishi te da je mobilizirano dodatnih 100 liječnika, povrh 80 koji su već tamo.
"Spavao sam", rekao je neidentificirani preživjeli muškarac za NDTV vijesti.
"Probudila me buka vlaka koji je iskočio iz tračnica. Odjednom sam vidio 10-15 mrtvih. Uspio sam izaći iz vagona, a onda sam vidio puno raskomadanih tijela", dodao je.
Videosnimka od petka prikazuje spasioce kako se penju uz jedan od oštećenih vlakova kako bi pronašli preživjele, dok su putnici dozivali pomoć i jecali.

Do sudara je došlo oko 19 sati po lokalnom vremenu (15:30 po srednjoeuropskom).
Howrah Superfast Express, koji vozi od Bangalorea do Howraha u Zapadnom Bengalu iskočio je iz tračnica i sudario se s Coromandel Expressom koji vozi od Kolkate do Chennaija..
Vlasti su dale proturječne tvrdnje o tome koji je vlak prvi iskočio iz tračnica. Ministarstvo željeznica priopćilo je da je pokrenulo istragu o incidentu.
Iako je Jena kazao da je u sudar bio uključen i teretni vlak, što su pisali i pojedini mediji, Indijske željeznice još ne spominju tu mogućnost.
Prema Indijskim željeznicama, njihova mreža omogućava prijevoz više od 13 milijuna ljudi svakoga dana, a Reuters ističe kako je infrastruktura zastarjela.
Indija je subotu proglasila danom žalosti zbog nesreće.
Najsmrtonosnija željeznička nesreća u Indiji dogodila se 1981. kada je vlak sletio s mosta u rijeku u državi Bihar, pri čemu je poginulo oko 800 ljudi.
