Otprilike 900 potresa je pogodilo jug Islanda u ponedjeljak, rekle su vlasti, povrh desetaka tisuća podrhtavanja koja su zadesila regiju u posljednjih nekoliko tjedana dok se zemlja priprema za moguću vulkansku erupciju.

Gotovo 4000 osoba je evakuirano tijekom vikenda. "Trenutno se suočavamo s ogromnom nesigurnošću: hoće li biti erupcije i, ako da, kakva šteta će nastati", rekao je Matthew James Roberts, upravitelj odjela za istraživanje pri islandskom meteorološkom uredu.

Stanovnici grada Grindavika su opisali kako su napustili svoje domove u ranim jutarnjim satima u subotu dok se treslo tlo, ceste su pucale, a zgrade pretrpjele strukturalna oštećenja.

Hans Vera, 56-godišnji Belgijac koji na Islandu živi od 1999., rekao je da se kuća njegove obitelji neprestano tresla.

"Stalno se treslo pa se nije bilo moguće naspavati", kazao je Vera, koji se privremeno preselio kod obitelji u predgrađu glavnog grada Reykjavika.

"Nisu samo ljudi u Grindaviku šokirani zbog ove situacije, (već) cijeli Island", dodao je.

Gotovo svih 3800 stanovnika grada je uspjelo pronaći smještaj kod članova obitelji ili prijatelja, a samo 50-70 ljudi je smješteno u centre za evakuaciju, rekao je dužnosnik spasilačkih službi.

Nekim evakuiranim osobama je dozvoljeno da se u nedjelju nakratko vrate u grad kako bi ponijeli dokumente, lijekove ili kućne ljubimce, no nije im bilo dopušteno da se odvezu sami.

"Morate parkirati vaš automobil pet kilometara od grada i tamo je 20 automobila, ogromnih automobila spasilačke ekipe, 20 policajaca, trepereća svjetla, jednostavno je nestvarno, poput ratne zone ili nešto, veoma je čudno", kazao je Vera.

Poluotok Reykjanes je vulkanska i seizmološka žarišna točka jugozapadno od glavnog grada. Fontane lave pojavile su u ožujku 2021. iz pukotine u tlu duge između 500 i 750 metara u vulkanskom sustavu Fagradalsfjall u toj pokrajini.

Vulkanska aktivnost na tom području trajala je šest mjeseci te godine, što je privuklo tisuće Islanđana i turista. Trotjedna erupcija zbila se u kolovozu 2022. na istom području, nakon čega je došlo do još jedne u srpnju ove godine.

Otprilike 900 potresa je pogodilo jug Islanda u ponedjeljak, rekle su vlasti, povrh desetaka tisuća podrhtavanja koja su zadesila regiju u posljednjih nekoliko tjedana dok se zemlja priprema za moguću vulkansku erupciju.

Gotovo 4000 osoba je evakuirano tijekom vikenda. "Trenutno se suočavamo s ogromnom nesigurnošću: hoće li biti erupcije i, ako da, kakva šteta će nastati", rekao je Matthew James Roberts, upravitelj odjela za istraživanje pri islandskom meteorološkom uredu.

Stanovnici grada Grindavika su opisali kako su napustili svoje domove u ranim jutarnjim satima u subotu dok se treslo tlo, ceste su pucale, a zgrade pretrpjele strukturalna oštećenja.

Hans Vera, 56-godišnji Belgijac koji na Islandu živi od 1999., rekao je da se kuća njegove obitelji neprestano tresla.

"Stalno se treslo pa se nije bilo moguće naspavati", kazao je Vera, koji se privremeno preselio kod obitelji u predgrađu glavnog grada Reykjavika.

"Nisu samo ljudi u Grindaviku šokirani zbog ove situacije, (već) cijeli Island", dodao je.

Gotovo svih 3800 stanovnika grada je uspjelo pronaći smještaj kod članova obitelji ili prijatelja, a samo 50-70 ljudi je smješteno u centre za evakuaciju, rekao je dužnosnik spasilačkih službi.

Nekim evakuiranim osobama je dozvoljeno da se u nedjelju nakratko vrate u grad kako bi ponijeli dokumente, lijekove ili kućne ljubimce, no nije im bilo dopušteno da se odvezu sami.

Poluotok Reykjanes je vulkanska i seizmološka žarišna točka jugozapadno od glavnog grada. Fontane lave pojavile su u ožujku 2021. iz pukotine u tlu duge između 500 i 750 metara u vulkanskom sustavu Fagradalsfjall u toj pokrajini.

Vulkanska aktivnost na tom području trajala je šest mjeseci te godine, što je privuklo tisuće Islanđana i turista. Trotjedna erupcija zbila se u kolovozu 2022. na istom području, nakon čega je došlo do još jedne u srpnju ove godine.

Otprilike 900 potresa je pogodilo jug Islanda u ponedjeljak, rekle su vlasti, povrh desetaka tisuća podrhtavanja koja su zadesila regiju u posljednjih nekoliko tjedana dok se zemlja priprema za moguću vulkansku erupciju.

Gotovo 4000 osoba je evakuirano tijekom vikenda. "Trenutno se suočavamo s ogromnom nesigurnošću: hoće li biti erupcije i, ako da, kakva šteta će nastati", rekao je Matthew James Roberts, upravitelj odjela za istraživanje pri islandskom meteorološkom uredu.

Stanovnici grada Grindavika su opisali kako su napustili svoje domove u ranim jutarnjim satima u subotu dok se treslo tlo, ceste su pucale, a zgrade pretrpjele strukturalna oštećenja.

Hans Vera, 56-godišnji Belgijac koji na Islandu živi od 1999., rekao je da se kuća njegove obitelji neprestano tresla.

"Stalno se treslo pa se nije bilo moguće naspavati", kazao je Vera, koji se privremeno preselio kod obitelji u predgrađu glavnog grada Reykjavika.

"Nisu samo ljudi u Grindaviku šokirani zbog ove situacije, (već) cijeli Island", dodao je.

Gotovo svih 3800 stanovnika grada je uspjelo pronaći smještaj kod članova obitelji ili prijatelja, a samo 50-70 ljudi je smješteno u centre za evakuaciju, rekao je dužnosnik spasilačkih službi.

Nekim evakuiranim osobama je dozvoljeno da se u nedjelju nakratko vrate u grad kako bi ponijeli dokumente, lijekove ili kućne ljubimce, no nije im bilo dopušteno da se odvezu sami.
