Gotovo pola milijuna ljudi napustilo je svoje domove u Mosulu od početka ofenzive iračkih snaga na taj grad prije šest mjeseci, u nastojanju da ga ponovno preuzmu od pripadnika Islamske države, objavio u ponedjeljak UN.

"Iz Mosula je pobjegao ogroman broj civila", rekla je UN-ova humanitarna koordinatorica u Iraku, Lise Grande. 

Bitka za Mosul počela je 17. listopada prošle godine, a vladinim trupama omogućila je protjerivanje džihadista iz jednog dijela grada, no od veljače su sukobi fokusirani na gusto naseljeno područje na zapadnoj obali rijeke Tigris. 

"Kad su borbe počele naš katastrofični scenarij uključivao je oko milijun civila koji žele pobjeći iz Mosula. Dosad su otišle 493.000. Ostavili su sve za sobom", rekla je Grande. 

Po podacima UN-a u dijelovima Mosula pod kontrolom IS-a ostalo je još oko pola milijuna ljudi. 

Uz potporu međunarodnih koalicijskih snaga, iračke snage su prije dva mjeseca napredovale u zapadnom Mosulu, no vojno napredovanje prema starom dijelu gradu u kojemu se nalaze tisuće civila, bilo je sporo i vrlo teško. 

Po zadnjim informacijama koje je u ponedjeljak objavio vojni glasnogovornik u starom dijelu Mosula vode se borbe od kuće do kuće.

Gotovo pola milijuna ljudi napustilo je svoje domove u Mosulu od početka ofenzive iračkih snaga na taj grad prije šest mjeseci, u nastojanju da ga ponovno preuzmu od pripadnika Islamske države, objavio u ponedjeljak UN.

"Iz Mosula je pobjegao ogroman broj civila", rekla je UN-ova humanitarna koordinatorica u Iraku, Lise Grande. 

Bitka za Mosul počela je 17. listopada prošle godine, a vladinim trupama omogućila je protjerivanje džihadista iz jednog dijela grada, no od veljače su sukobi fokusirani na gusto naseljeno područje na zapadnoj obali rijeke Tigris. 

"Kad su borbe počele naš katastrofični scenarij uključivao je oko milijun civila koji žele pobjeći iz Mosula. Dosad su otišle 493.000. Ostavili su sve za sobom", rekla je Grande. 

Po podacima UN-a u dijelovima Mosula pod kontrolom IS-a ostalo je još oko pola milijuna ljudi. 

Uz potporu međunarodnih koalicijskih snaga, iračke snage su prije dva mjeseca napredovale u zapadnom Mosulu, no vojno napredovanje prema starom dijelu gradu u kojemu se nalaze tisuće civila, bilo je sporo i vrlo teško. 

Po zadnjim informacijama koje je u ponedjeljak objavio vojni glasnogovornik u starom dijelu Mosula vode se borbe od kuće do kuće.
