Virus ptičje gripe od kojeg je na jugu Kambodže preminula 11-godišnjakinja sadržavao je mutacije koje su mu olakšale ulaz u stanice čovjeka, piše Sky News.
Vjeruje se da se djevojčica virusom zarazila nakon kontakta s peradi na obiteljskoj farmi u provinciji Prey Veng.
Njezin je otac također bio pozitivan na virus H5N1, ali nije razvio nikakve simptome.
Dr. Erik Karlsson, voditelj grupe znanstvenika s Instituta Pasteur u Kambodži koja je dekodirala genom virusa kojim se zarazila 11-godišnjakinja, rekao je da se virus razlikovao od uzoraka koji su uzeti od ptica, prenosi Jutarnji.
- Ima indikacija da je taj virus prošao kroz čovjeka - rekao je Karlsson za Sky News.
- Kad god virusi uđu u novog domaćina, dožive promjene koje im omogućavaju da se brže umnožavaju i bolje vežu uz stanice u našem respiratornom traktu - dodao je Karlsson.
Znanstvenik je rekao da ja malo vjerojatno da je virus mutirao dok je bio u djevojci već da su mutacije vjerojatno postojale u "oblaku" virusa s nasumičnim genetskim promjenama u pticama.
- Ulazak jednog ili dva virusa iz oblaka u novog domaćina istima omogućava da postanu otporniji i dominantna populacija - rekao je Karlsson te dodao da se virus ptičje gripe još uvijek nije u potpunosti prilagodio ljudima.
- Još je to uvijek ptičji virus - ustvrdio je znanstvenik.
Znanstvenici su genom virus dekodirali za samo 24 sata, a to im je omogućila tehnologija britanske tvrtke Oxford Nanopore Technologies. Utvrđeno je da se djevojčica zarazila varijantom virusa 2.3.2.1c koja je endemska među divljim pticama i peradi u Kambodži, a ne sojem 2.3.4.4b koji se počeo ubrzano širiti svijetom i kojim su se zarazili neki sisavci.
Dr. Karlsson rekao je da se ne smije umanjivati prijetnja koju predstavlja varijanta 2.3.2.1c.
- Ovdje se radi o prijelazu virusa sa životinje na čovjeka i tome se treba pristupiti maksimalno oprezno - upozorio je znanstvenik.
Prema podacima Svjetske zdravstvene organizacije (WHO), do sada su se virusom H5N1 zarazile 873 osobe, a virus je do sada odnio 458 života.
Unatoč tome, za sada nema dokaza da se virus lako širi među ljudima. Sky News navodi da je tomu tako jer se varijante virusa ptičje gripe vežu za receptore (molekule u staničnoj membrani ili u unutrašnjosti stanice koje nakon vezivanja sa signalnim molekulama potiču ili koče različite stanične funkcije) koji se nalaze u stanicama koji se nalaze duboko u čovjekovim plućima. Virus bi se brže širio među ljudima kada bi se, poput ljudske gripe, mogao vezati za receptore u stanicama dišnih puteva.
Karlsson je rekao da se promjene u virusu ptičje gripe moraju pomno pratiti.
- Moguće je da se nešto događa ovdje u Kambodži, a moguće je i da se nešto događa na drugom kraju svijeta u Južnoj Americi. Međutim, još uvijek zapravo ne znamo što će nam to u budućnosti praviti probleme - rekao je znanstvenik.
- Presudno je da radimo zajedno i istovremeno odgovorimo na sve te izazove. Voljeli bismo kada nam životinjski virusi ne bi bili prijetnja, međutim oni će ostati veliki problema.
Britanska agencija za zdravstvenu sigurnost rekla je da se jedna osoba u siječnju 2022. godine zarazila ptičjom gripom, ali da nije razvila simptome. Ove je zime 3100 osoba prilikom rada s bolesnim pticama došlo u kontakt s virusom H5N1. Nijedna od tih osoba u konačnici nije bila pozitivna na virus.
- Zabrinjavajuće je to što je virus tako brzo postao globalan. Perad u Europi te Sjevernoj i Južnoj Americi masovno se njime zaražavala, a bilo je slučajeva kada je virus s ptica skočio na sisavce. Svaki od tih prijelaza razlog je za brigu - zaključio je dr. Karlsson.

Virus ptičje gripe od kojeg je na jugu Kambodže preminula 11-godišnjakinja sadržavao je mutacije koje su mu olakšale ulaz u stanice čovjeka, piše Sky News.
Vjeruje se da se djevojčica virusom zarazila nakon kontakta s peradi na obiteljskoj farmi u provinciji Prey Veng.
Njezin je otac također bio pozitivan na virus H5N1, ali nije razvio nikakve simptome.
Dr. Erik Karlsson, voditelj grupe znanstvenika s Instituta Pasteur u Kambodži koja je dekodirala genom virusa kojim se zarazila 11-godišnjakinja, rekao je da se virus razlikovao od uzoraka koji su uzeti od ptica, prenosi Jutarnji.
- Ima indikacija da je taj virus prošao kroz čovjeka - rekao je Karlsson za Sky News.
- Kad god virusi uđu u novog domaćina, dožive promjene koje im omogućavaju da se brže umnožavaju i bolje vežu uz stanice u našem respiratornom traktu - dodao je Karlsson.
Znanstvenik je rekao da ja malo vjerojatno da je virus mutirao dok je bio u djevojci već da su mutacije vjerojatno postojale u "oblaku" virusa s nasumičnim genetskim promjenama u pticama.
- Ulazak jednog ili dva virusa iz oblaka u novog domaćina istima omogućava da postanu otporniji i dominantna populacija - rekao je Karlsson te dodao da se virus ptičje gripe još uvijek nije u potpunosti prilagodio ljudima.
- Još je to uvijek ptičji virus - ustvrdio je znanstvenik.
Znanstvenici su genom virus dekodirali za samo 24 sata, a to im je omogućila tehnologija britanske tvrtke Oxford Nanopore Technologies. Utvrđeno je da se djevojčica zarazila varijantom virusa 2.3.2.1c koja je endemska među divljim pticama i peradi u Kambodži, a ne sojem 2.3.4.4b koji se počeo ubrzano širiti svijetom i kojim su se zarazili neki sisavci.
Dr. Karlsson rekao je da se ne smije umanjivati prijetnja koju predstavlja varijanta 2.3.2.1c.
- Ovdje se radi o prijelazu virusa sa životinje na čovjeka i tome se treba pristupiti maksimalno oprezno - upozorio je znanstvenik.
Prema podacima Svjetske zdravstvene organizacije (WHO), do sada su se virusom H5N1 zarazile 873 osobe, a virus je do sada odnio 458 života.
Unatoč tome, za sada nema dokaza da se virus lako širi među ljudima. Sky News navodi da je tomu tako jer se varijante virusa ptičje gripe vežu za receptore (molekule u staničnoj membrani ili u unutrašnjosti stanice koje nakon vezivanja sa signalnim molekulama potiču ili koče različite stanične funkcije) koji se nalaze u stanicama koji se nalaze duboko u čovjekovim plućima. Virus bi se brže širio među ljudima kada bi se, poput ljudske gripe, mogao vezati za receptore u stanicama dišnih puteva.
Karlsson je rekao da se promjene u virusu ptičje gripe moraju pomno pratiti.
- Moguće je da se nešto događa ovdje u Kambodži, a moguće je i da se nešto događa na drugom kraju svijeta u Južnoj Americi. Međutim, još uvijek zapravo ne znamo što će nam to u budućnosti praviti probleme - rekao je znanstvenik.
- Presudno je da radimo zajedno i istovremeno odgovorimo na sve te izazove. Voljeli bismo kada nam životinjski virusi ne bi bili prijetnja, međutim oni će ostati veliki problema.
Britanska agencija za zdravstvenu sigurnost rekla je da se jedna osoba u siječnju 2022. godine zarazila ptičjom gripom, ali da nije razvila simptome. Ove je zime 3100 osoba prilikom rada s bolesnim pticama došlo u kontakt s virusom H5N1. Nijedna od tih osoba u konačnici nije bila pozitivna na virus.
- Zabrinjavajuće je to što je virus tako brzo postao globalan. Perad u Europi te Sjevernoj i Južnoj Americi masovno se njime zaražavala, a bilo je slučajeva kada je virus s ptica skočio na sisavce. Svaki od tih prijelaza razlog je za brigu - zaključio je dr. Karlsson.
