Svečanim svetim misama polnoćkama i zornicama u Metkoviću i dolini Neretve proslavljen je Božić. Na otvorenom u svetištu Svetog Ante na Dubravici jutarnju božićnu misu predvodio je župnik metkovske župe Svetog Ilije, fra Denis Šimunović. Zbog lijepog i iznad prosječno toplo vrijeme na božićnoj misi u svetištu Svetog Ante okupilo se mnoštvo vjernika. Fra Denis je u ovoj svečanoj prigodi govorio o otajstvu Božiću te je najavio da će jutarnje mise u svetištu postati božićna tradicija.
U dolini Neretve mnoštvo je božićnih običaja. Nažalost oni se danas gase, a sa njima nestaje sve ono što su naši stari godinama pomno njegovali i čuvali od zaborava.
Prvi vidljivi znaci da je Božić već tu, bili su badnjaci što su se sjekli po okolnim brdima. Badnjaci su se na Badnju večer palili u neretvanskim kominima ili na otvorenom ispred crkava.

Badnjaci su imali svoja imena, Adam i Eva i oni su gorjeli čitavu noć a ako ne bi potpuno izgorjeli ponovno bi se naložili na Novu godinu. I onda kao i sada svi su nestrpljivo iščekivali Badnji dan i Božić. Posebno su se veselili misi Polnoćki na koju su išli i stari i mladi.
Kuće su se kitile granama bršljana a posebno je bilo zanimljivo čestitanje Božića. Ljudi se međusobno dozivali čestitajući Badnju večer i Božić. Domaćin kuće zove svoga susjeda i govori mu: - " Na dobro ti došao Božić i porođenje Gospodinovo".
Zatim mu ovaj odgovara: "I s tobom Bog da zajedno ".
Upravo je tim starim pozdravom fra Denis Šimunović čestitao Božić okupljenim vjernicima na Dubravici.

Svečanim svetim misama polnoćkama i zornicama u Metkoviću i dolini Neretve proslavljen je Božić. Na otvorenom u svetištu Svetog Ante na Dubravici jutarnju božićnu misu predvodio je župnik metkovske župe Svetog Ilije, fra Denis Šimunović. Zbog lijepog i iznad prosječno toplo vrijeme na božićnoj misi u svetištu Svetog Ante okupilo se mnoštvo vjernika. Fra Denis je u ovoj svečanoj prigodi govorio o otajstvu Božiću te je najavio da će jutarnje mise u svetištu postati božićna tradicija.
U dolini Neretve mnoštvo je božićnih običaja. Nažalost oni se danas gase, a sa njima nestaje sve ono što su naši stari godinama pomno njegovali i čuvali od zaborava.
Prvi vidljivi znaci da je Božić već tu, bili su badnjaci što su se sjekli po okolnim brdima. Badnjaci su se na Badnju večer palili u neretvanskim kominima ili na otvorenom ispred crkava.

Badnjaci su imali svoja imena, Adam i Eva i oni su gorjeli čitavu noć a ako ne bi potpuno izgorjeli ponovno bi se naložili na Novu godinu. I onda kao i sada svi su nestrpljivo iščekivali Badnji dan i Božić. Posebno su se veselili misi Polnoćki na koju su išli i stari i mladi.
Kuće su se kitile granama bršljana a posebno je bilo zanimljivo čestitanje Božića. Ljudi se međusobno dozivali čestitajući Badnju večer i Božić. Domaćin kuće zove svoga susjeda i govori mu: - " Na dobro ti došao Božić i porođenje Gospodinovo".
Zatim mu ovaj odgovara: "I s tobom Bog da zajedno ".
Upravo je tim starim pozdravom fra Denis Šimunović čestitao Božić okupljenim vjernicima na Dubravici.
