Sara Svetac, tenisačica je koja je nedavno stigla do titule seniorske prvakinje Hrvatske na turniru u Zadru. Možda to i ne bi bila neka vijest da ova Splićanka nema još ni 20 godina. Tek je završila srednju školu, a uskoro seli u SAD, gdje će na Sveučilištu u Arizoni nastaviti svoju sportsku karijeru. Svetac je tako ove godine nanizala dvije seniorske titule, jer prije ove se okitila i onom na dvoranskom državnom prvenstvu u Zagrebu.
Često se kaže kako su svi veliki rezultati u mlađim kategorijama “nebitni”, ako se to ne prenese i na seniorske medalje. Međutim, ova mlada tenisačica jednom nogom je već zakoračila prema tim većim trofejima i u Split donijela titulu prvakinje Hrvatske, ali ne planira stati samo na tome.
- Mislim da je taj prelazak iz juniorskog u seniorski sport najteži. Dosta se ljudi ne uspije snaći u tome, a ja sam za sada dosta dobra što se tiče Hrvatske. Međutim, na međunarodnoj razini još nisam došla do toga, ali planiram. Vidjet ćemo kroz godine kako će biti...
Osim brojnih čestitki, što vam zapravo donosi ova titula?
- Na osnovu ovog državnog prvenstva može se dobiti pozivnica za kvalifikacije iz nekog seniorskog međunarodnog turnira u Hrvatskoj.
Što po vama najviše utječe na uspjeh i u seniorskim vodama?
- Ja sam u individualnom sportu, ali i dalje veliki faktor ima cijeli tim koji stoji iza mene. Imam sreću što me obitelj puno podupire u cijeloj ovoj priči, a i odlični treneri. Teniski trener mi je Ivan Škaro, dok je kondicijski Robert Hrvoje Čondić. A tu su i svi ostali koji su uz mene cijelu moju karijeru - Igor Buljan, Ante Bilić, Petar Bubalo, Martino Škarica i Jure Kekez. Svi oni su tu u klubu i pomažu nam da se probijemo dalje.

Kada ste počeli trenirati tenis, jeste li razmišljali da ćete doći do ovoga?
- To je krenulo čisto iz zabave, jer su moja mama i djed igrali tenis, pa sam ja uvijek trčala po terenima. Počela sam trenirati sa šest godina, a prije tenisa sam trenirala balet i plivanje. Međutim, onda sam ipak shvatila da je tenis bolji odabir za mene.
Imate li i neke sportske uzore?
- Imam i naravno da svi dolaze iz tenisa. To su Roger Federer, Maria Sharapova i trenutno Elina Svitolina. A drago mi je što je Carlos Alcaraz osvojio Wimbledon.
Svaki individualni sport nosi svoju težinu, posebno kada je u pitanju mentalna spremnost i pripreme. Imate li nekakvu pomoć u tom segmentu?
- Mislim da je glavno ono što svaki igrač prolazi sam sa sobom. Ja sam kao mlađa imala i nekakve sportske psihologe, bilo je tu dosta pomoći kako bih danas bila što bolja na terenu. Sada mi tu najviše pomažu mama i kondicijski trener.
Već ste na ozbiljnoj razini u tenisu. Imate li strogi režim kada je prehrana u pitanju?
- Mislim da nisam baš jako stroga što se tiče toga, volim se opustiti. Međutim, kad su turniri preko tjedna, jako pazim što unosim. Ne jedem nikakvu brzu hranu, ali kad je neka pauza uzmem koji dan u kojem se mogu i počastiti s tim.
Svetac je očigledno sve podredila uspjehu u sportu, a u teniskom klubu na Firulama svi pozdravljaju mladu Splićanku i čestitaju joj na novoj državnoj tituli. Međutim, još nekoliko tjedana i prvakinja Hrvatske seli u Ameriku, gdje će uz obrazovanje nastaviti brusiti svoju karijeru. Bolji uvjeti sigurno su veliki mamac da se ode van granica Lijepe Naše.
- Idem na Arizona State University, to je u predgrađu Phoenixa. Tamo sam, naravno, došla preko tenisa, ponudili su mi stipendiju. Mislim da iz Amerike mogu puno lakše ići dalje, tu iz Hrvatske je teže.

Jeste li upoznati kako će vam izgledati dan? Koliko će biti sati treninga, a koliko predavanja?
- Koliko znam za sada, mislim da će to biti dva sata ujutro, a popodne možda isto, ovisi naravno i o rasporedu predavanja. Također i o turnirima, jer svaku subotu bi trebali igrati meč, pa vjerojatno par dana prije nećemo imati neke treninge da se ne “ubijemo”.
I to je neka novost. U Hrvatskoj sigurno niste imali priliku igrati toliko često?
- Ne, kod nas je to napravljeno da liga traje kroz jedan mjesec. Dakle, samo u tom periodu imamo meč svake subote.
Postoji li neki strah od “novog svijeta” ili vlada samo uzbuđenje?
- Postoji mali strah, jer ipak je to drugi mentalitet, kontinent i kultura, ali više u pozitivnom smislu. Ali ako i ne uspijem u tenisu, opet mi ostaje diploma, pa ću dobit nešto kako god se okrene...
Kako ste se “dokopali” stipendije?
- Ja ovaj sport stvarno volim, igram ga srcem više nego glavom, što nekad nije dobro, haha... Pratili su me agenti i skauti koji su me uočili na Europskom prvenstvu do 18 godina. Puno ih bude na takvim turnirima, a ja sam bila na jednom takvom prošle godine u Švicarskoj u Klostersu.

Imate li nekakav savjet za one koji su još mlađi od vas, a koji bi isto željeli krenuti vašim putem?
- Definitivno bih im savjetovala da ne odustaju. Također, ako ne ostvaruju ovdje uspjehe, a imaju priliku otići u Ameriku, mislim da je to dobar odabir. Ta država je odlična stvar za mlađe igrače.
Sara Svetac tako nastavlja krojiti svoju sportsku karijeru van granica Hrvatske. U državi koja ima sve uvjete koji će joj omogućiti da taj put bude što lakši i uspješniji. Jedna stepenica je prekoračena, ali ispred nje je još dug i trnovit put probijanja na svjetsku scenu. Svakako joj želimo puno uspjeha i što manje ozljeda, a nadamo se da će ova "juniorka" naći svoje mjesto na seniorskim terenima, te svojim primjerom biti uzor i drugima.

Sara Svetac, tenisačica je koja je nedavno stigla do titule seniorske prvakinje Hrvatske na turniru u Zadru. Možda to i ne bi bila neka vijest da ova Splićanka nema još ni 20 godina. Tek je završila srednju školu, a uskoro seli u SAD, gdje će na Sveučilištu u Arizoni nastaviti svoju sportsku karijeru. Svetac je tako ove godine nanizala dvije seniorske titule, jer prije ove se okitila i onom na dvoranskom državnom prvenstvu u Zagrebu.
Često se kaže kako su svi veliki rezultati u mlađim kategorijama “nebitni”, ako se to ne prenese i na seniorske medalje. Međutim, ova mlada tenisačica jednom nogom je već zakoračila prema tim većim trofejima i u Split donijela titulu prvakinje Hrvatske, ali ne planira stati samo na tome.
- Mislim da je taj prelazak iz juniorskog u seniorski sport najteži. Dosta se ljudi ne uspije snaći u tome, a ja sam za sada dosta dobra što se tiče Hrvatske. Međutim, na međunarodnoj razini još nisam došla do toga, ali planiram. Vidjet ćemo kroz godine kako će biti...
Osim brojnih čestitki, što vam zapravo donosi ova titula?
- Na osnovu ovog državnog prvenstva može se dobiti pozivnica za kvalifikacije iz nekog seniorskog međunarodnog turnira u Hrvatskoj.
Što po vama najviše utječe na uspjeh i u seniorskim vodama?
- Ja sam u individualnom sportu, ali i dalje veliki faktor ima cijeli tim koji stoji iza mene. Imam sreću što me obitelj puno podupire u cijeloj ovoj priči, a i odlični treneri. Teniski trener mi je Ivan Škaro, dok je kondicijski Robert Hrvoje Čondić. A tu su i svi ostali koji su uz mene cijelu moju karijeru - Igor Buljan, Ante Bilić, Petar Bubalo, Martino Škarica i Jure Kekez. Svi oni su tu u klubu i pomažu nam da se probijemo dalje.

Kada ste počeli trenirati tenis, jeste li razmišljali da ćete doći do ovoga?
- To je krenulo čisto iz zabave, jer su moja mama i djed igrali tenis, pa sam ja uvijek trčala po terenima. Počela sam trenirati sa šest godina, a prije tenisa sam trenirala balet i plivanje. Međutim, onda sam ipak shvatila da je tenis bolji odabir za mene.
Imate li i neke sportske uzore?
- Imam i naravno da svi dolaze iz tenisa. To su Roger Federer, Maria Sharapova i trenutno Elina Svitolina. A drago mi je što je Carlos Alcaraz osvojio Wimbledon.
Svaki individualni sport nosi svoju težinu, posebno kada je u pitanju mentalna spremnost i pripreme. Imate li nekakvu pomoć u tom segmentu?
- Mislim da je glavno ono što svaki igrač prolazi sam sa sobom. Ja sam kao mlađa imala i nekakve sportske psihologe, bilo je tu dosta pomoći kako bih danas bila što bolja na terenu. Sada mi tu najviše pomažu mama i kondicijski trener.
Već ste na ozbiljnoj razini u tenisu. Imate li strogi režim kada je prehrana u pitanju?
- Mislim da nisam baš jako stroga što se tiče toga, volim se opustiti. Međutim, kad su turniri preko tjedna, jako pazim što unosim. Ne jedem nikakvu brzu hranu, ali kad je neka pauza uzmem koji dan u kojem se mogu i počastiti s tim.
Svetac je očigledno sve podredila uspjehu u sportu, a u teniskom klubu na Firulama svi pozdravljaju mladu Splićanku i čestitaju joj na novoj državnoj tituli. Međutim, još nekoliko tjedana i prvakinja Hrvatske seli u Ameriku, gdje će uz obrazovanje nastaviti brusiti svoju karijeru. Bolji uvjeti sigurno su veliki mamac da se ode van granica Lijepe Naše.
- Idem na Arizona State University, to je u predgrađu Phoenixa. Tamo sam, naravno, došla preko tenisa, ponudili su mi stipendiju. Mislim da iz Amerike mogu puno lakše ići dalje, tu iz Hrvatske je teže.

Jeste li upoznati kako će vam izgledati dan? Koliko će biti sati treninga, a koliko predavanja?
- Koliko znam za sada, mislim da će to biti dva sata ujutro, a popodne možda isto, ovisi naravno i o rasporedu predavanja. Također i o turnirima, jer svaku subotu bi trebali igrati meč, pa vjerojatno par dana prije nećemo imati neke treninge da se ne “ubijemo”.
I to je neka novost. U Hrvatskoj sigurno niste imali priliku igrati toliko često?
- Ne, kod nas je to napravljeno da liga traje kroz jedan mjesec. Dakle, samo u tom periodu imamo meč svake subote.
Postoji li neki strah od “novog svijeta” ili vlada samo uzbuđenje?
- Postoji mali strah, jer ipak je to drugi mentalitet, kontinent i kultura, ali više u pozitivnom smislu. Ali ako i ne uspijem u tenisu, opet mi ostaje diploma, pa ću dobit nešto kako god se okrene...
Kako ste se “dokopali” stipendije?
- Ja ovaj sport stvarno volim, igram ga srcem više nego glavom, što nekad nije dobro, haha... Pratili su me agenti i skauti koji su me uočili na Europskom prvenstvu do 18 godina. Puno ih bude na takvim turnirima, a ja sam bila na jednom takvom prošle godine u Švicarskoj u Klostersu.

Imate li nekakav savjet za one koji su još mlađi od vas, a koji bi isto željeli krenuti vašim putem?
- Definitivno bih im savjetovala da ne odustaju. Također, ako ne ostvaruju ovdje uspjehe, a imaju priliku otići u Ameriku, mislim da je to dobar odabir. Ta država je odlična stvar za mlađe igrače.
Sara Svetac tako nastavlja krojiti svoju sportsku karijeru van granica Hrvatske. U državi koja ima sve uvjete koji će joj omogućiti da taj put bude što lakši i uspješniji. Jedna stepenica je prekoračena, ali ispred nje je još dug i trnovit put probijanja na svjetsku scenu. Svakako joj želimo puno uspjeha i što manje ozljeda, a nadamo se da će ova "juniorka" naći svoje mjesto na seniorskim terenima, te svojim primjerom biti uzor i drugima.
